The Rough Fiction Ensemble’s pop-up production of The Love of The Nightingale by Timberlake Wertenbaker will open at the following venues for the following dates. Each weekend a different venue, a different cast list and a new experience of this beautiful and resonant play. Read more about the production here.

Sunday 18th September 2011, 3pm for 4pm start  - The Queen of Hoxton’s Rooftop Garden - Join us for the ensemble’s very first outing for this preview performance. Sunday 2nd October 2011 at 3.30pm – Cecil Sharp House, Camden - Our first indoor performance marks the beginning of our adventure into exciting new venues across London. Perhaps most famous for it’s Friday Night Ceilidh Club the Folk Society’s beautiful Kennedy Hall is a fitting venue our epic pop-up show rife with choric folk singing and drumming.

The Love of The Nightingale 2011

The Rough Fiction Ensemble in association with the Actors Centre present a pop up production of

The Love of The Nightingale by Timberlake Wertenbaker

Featuring live choral singing, percussion and a cast of 14-26 actors Rough Fiction’s Ensemble Laboratory, this ever-changing pop-up production appears at a new venue each week, with different staging and the actors swapping parts every performance.

Set against the backdrop of war, The Love of The Nightingale reveals two Athenian sisters caught in a triangle of desire and revenge in Wertenbaker’s witty and moving version of the ancient Philomela myth questioning the nature of power and what happens when people are silenced. Olivier Award winning playwright Timberlake Wertenbaker is perhaps best know for remarkable play Our Country’s Good.
